Mirepoix – a Little Look
Mirepoix is a medieval bastide town in Ariège Pyrenees.
There is a busy Monday market, a large Cathedral and useful shops and businesses as well as restaurants and cafés.
If you click on an image you can step through the pictures one by one with titles and captions.
You can see more photos and information on the area at Mirepoix pictures.
- The Couverts are all around the square. Note the half timbered buildings.
- Artisan cheese, sausage and jams – yum
- Stop for a rest and catch up with the week’s news at one of the cafés by the Market
- You can try before you buy these at many of the stalls
- The Cathedral makes an elegant backdrop to the market
- Plenty of empty comfy chairs on the Non market day out of season
- The famous couverts with a variety of shops and boutiques
- Shutters vary in colour but the traditional blue is my favorite
- Table cloths of every colour – and in plastic too, for al-fresco eating
- Country-style bread in front of the Cathedral
- Vegetables outside the main Cathedral door
- Stop for a chat in the square.
